“La Vida Loca” reflects a depressing and hopeless reality. The documentary, by photojournalist and filmmaker Christian Poveda, follows some of the members of ”la dieciocho,” the so called 18th Street gang in a poor San Salvador neighborhood.


A sobering look at the “Maras,” the heavily tattooed Central American gang that has modeled their violent lifestyle after that of the Bloods and Crips of Los Angeles. Striking fear into the hearts of the citizens of El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala, The Maras discuss their brotherhood and offer chilling insight into their savage world.
