UTV films goes Cannes






UTV prepares for Cannes with its great lineup of titles. 'Udaan', an Official Selection at Cannes after many years from India, will have a red carpet screening as its World Premiere at Cannes Film Festival. Vikramaditya Motwane’s debut film, 'Udaan', is the story of Rohan, a teenage boy, after being abandoned for eight years in boarding school, returns home and finds himself closeted with an authoritarian father and a younger half brother who he didn’t even know existed. 'Udaan' is Rohan’s journey as he strives to forge his own life out of his given circumstances to pursue his dream of being a writer.

Aamir Khan productions’ 'Peepli Live' which is co produced by UTV will have market screenings at Cannes following close to its Sundance World Dramatic Competition section screening and Berlinale Special screening at the Berlin film festival in February this year. UTV will unveil some exclusive footage from its upcoming animation films ‘Arjun-The Warrior Prince’ and ‘Alibaba and 41 Thieves’ and will also host private screenings of its under production film ‘Arjun-The Warrior Prince’ for select buyers at Cannes.

UTV will showcase forthcoming films and their rich library of commercially and critically acclaimed movies. There will be a market screening for ‘Harishchandrachi Factory’. The focus will be on new territory sales and to reach new audience in traditional territories for its new age films.

UTV also recently announced its forthcoming slate of 14 movies across various genres like romance, comedy, thriller and drama. The upcoming slate for 2010-2011 will be part of the exclusive promo showcase at Cannes.
